Is Wanderburg Multiplayer? Co-op Status and How to Check
Is Wanderburg multiplayer? No. The Steam category list has no Multi-player or Co-op entry, and the Press Kit says single player. No co-op has been announced.
No, you cannot play it with friends. Wanderburg is single-player only right now.
If you want to play in the same castle with a friend, the only option today is two copies and two separate runs.
Why the store category list settles it
The category list is where Valve records what a build actually supports. Wanderburg’s has Single-player, plus comfort, input and cloud features - and no Multi-player, Co-op, Online Co-op or split-screen entry. It comes from the build, not from marketing copy.
The official Press Kit fact sheet says single player as well.
What the community is asking for
There is a Steam discussion thread titled, plainly, “Add Coop”. The demand is real.
But keep two things apart: players asking is not the same as the developer planning it.
The 11 September Early Access recap lists what is coming next: new features, balance work and meta progression. It also says outright that performance is not where they want it. Multiplayer is not mentioned anywhere in it, and no timeline is given.
Why people think it is multiplayer
You often see several moving castles on screen at once — the official key art is two castles driving side by side. Add the number of units on screen and it is easy to read as co-op or a multi-castle mode.
Those castles are AI. The enemy castles and enemy vehicles are exactly what you are supposed to eat or destroy.
A three-step check
- Open the Steam store page and look at the category list for
Multi-player,Co-oporOnline Co-op. - Scan the official announcement feed for any multiplayer or co-op headline.
- Check the Early Access FAQ for a co-op description.
The test: if co-op is ever added, the store categories change first, because Valve ties that field to what the game actually supports.
“Lots of people are asking” or “a video had two castles in it” do not count as a change.
Limits
This page can prove there is no multiplayer today. It cannot prove the developer will never add it — Early Access features keep growing.
The practical alternative is separate solo runs, comparing builds and high scores with each other. Do not wait on a mode nobody has promised.
