Wanderburg Overtime: What Is Confirmed and What 0.9.8 Changed
Wanderburg Overtime: the desert variant and Overtime Mortar confirmed in patch notes, the 0.9.8 changes, and the achievement bug still open.
Overtime is one of the mechanics these hotfixes keep touching. But the developer has never written down how it works.
Only three things are confirmed: it exists, it has a “Desert Overtime” variant, and it has its own Overtime Mortar.
The 10 September patch changed all three. The bigger story is the achievement conflict — the developer has twice publicly admitted that a win reached in Overtime does not trigger “You Won!” or “All Biomes Won!”.
The three things that are actually confirmed
- Desert Overtime exists, and it gets adjusted between versions. The 0.9.8 notes say “Iterated on Desert Overtime”.
- There is a dedicated Overtime Mortar. In 0.9.8 it was buffed and its projectiles were changed to a faster, constant flight time.
- Overtime has stages. The 0.9.7 notes say some “late-overtime” enemies can now be stunned and slowed — so enemy behavior changes as it goes on.
What 0.9.8 changed
| Change | Detail |
|---|---|
| Desert Overtime | Iterated on (no numbers published) |
| Overtime Mortar | Buffed |
| Projectiles | Faster, and now a constant flight time |
A constant flight time matters in practice: you can no longer dodge by waiting for the shell to arrive. The rhythm is fixed, so the margin for error is smaller.
The Overtime achievement bug
The 10 September achievement rebalance post is blunt about it: “You Won!” and “All Biomes Won!” are only checked when you win without going into Overtime. The developer says progress is saved and the achievements will trigger in a future update.
The 12 September 0.9.10 notes do not include those two fixes. So as of 2026-09-18 the issue is still open.
If those two achievements are all you are missing, check whether your winning run went into Overtime first.
Note also that 0.9.9 (11 September) lists “Fixed the First Win and All Biomes Won achievements” once. Read alongside the two public statements above, the check was patched but not fully resolved, and the developer has not confirmed it since.
How players actually use it
The community treats Overtime as the continuation you push into after finishing a run, for high scores and leaderboard runs. German-language videos simply call it “Endlos Modus” — endless mode.
That is player experience and habit, not an official definition. The developer still has not described entry conditions, end conditions or rewards.
So when you read a walkthrough that tells you exactly how to enter Overtime, treat it as player experience and verify it in a run of your own.
How to track changes
Overtime changes are written into the hotfix posts, usually under Balancing or Overtime & Balancing.
Five versions shipped between 8 and 12 September. The quickest way to know whether your own impressions still hold is to compare version numbers. This page reflects the wording as of 0.9.10.
